United Way Hosts 8th Annual Golf Classic

Golf enthusiasts from across the CSRA teed-off for charity in the 8th Annual United Way Golf Classic, a tournament to benefit United Way of the CSRA.  The tournament was held on Monday, April 27, 2009, at Belle Meade Country Club in Thomson, Georgia.

Twenty teams played in this year’s tournament, and proceeds from the event will serve as first dollars for United Way’s 2009 Campaign.  The tournament ended with dinner sponsored by The Knox Foundation as well as presentation of the “Windsor Cup” sponsored by Windsor Jewelers.  First place winners were Jim Beck, Bill Houseman, and Milton Steinberg from United Distributors and Jerry Sapp from Publix.  Brad Pond, Christian Seklecki, and Scott Vasquez from ESI Acquisitions came in second place; and third place winners from Olin Corporation were Dave Blair, Jim Heron, Earl Hilson, and Mike Johnson. 

Event sponsors included: A.B. Beverage, Beverage South, Coco-Cola Bottling Company, Georgia Power, Knology, The Knox Foundation, Milton Ruben Toyota, National Distributors, Savannah River Banking Company, and United Distributors.  United Way of the CSRA looks forward to growing this tournament in the future to become another signature event for the community.  The 2009 Golf Classic will be held on April 19, 2010 at Jones Creek.
