The United Way of the CSRA celebrated surpassing its fundraising goal at its annual meeting Tuesday. Purple, green and gold beads and balloons and jazz melodies added to the New Orleans feel at the Marriott Hotel & Suites as officials announced that the agency raised $4,416,203, exceeding its $4.4 million goal set in August. Gold Named United Way President! La Verne H. Gold was unanimously voted in as United Way of the CSRA's new president on Tuesday, December 12, 2006. United Way's Board of Directors held a special conference call meeting of the Executive Committee on Monday night, where Ed Enoch, Chair of the Search Committee, recommended Ms. Gold for the president's position. The committee members unanimously voted to accept the Search Committee's recommendation of Ms. Gold for the position and to take the recommendation to the Board for final approval at the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday afternoon. When the Board met on Tuesday afternoon, the vote was unanimous to elect Ms. Gold as United Way's new President/CEO. Read More.
