UNITED WAY “LIGHTS THE WAY” IN THE CSRA

United Way of the Central Savannah River Area entertained almost 650 guests on August 25 at the Campaign Kickoff luncheon held at Bell Auditorium.  This fun event was presented through the generosity of Georgia Power, Southern Nuclear Operating Company, and Wachovia.  United Way asked all in attendance to “Light the Way” in the community by giving, advocating and volunteering.

Amidst the excitement of the event, children from the 4K program at The Family Y Child Development Center showed up to entertain the crowd with several tunes including “This Little Light of Mine.”  Two lucky guests were the proud recipients of gift baskets donated by United Way’s Board of Directors.  Mayor Deke Copenhaver presented a Proclamation to Ms. LaVerne Gold, President/CEO of United Way, naming this “United Way Day” in Augusta.

Kellogg Company was recognized for their receipt of United Way of America’s Spirit of America Summit Award last May at United Way’s national conference.  They were honored for their outstanding commitment to improving lives in local communities throughout America.  The Spirit of America® Award is United Way’s highest tribute for corporate community involvement.  READ MORE

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

It is my privilege to announce a new movement that United Way of America launched this past June and Jeff Spears, our Board Chair, introduced at our Campaign Kickoff on August 25.  It’s called LIVE UNITED, and it’s about advancing the common good in communities all across the country.
