Local Hospitals Raise $205,051 for the CSRA!
Caring for people in need is standard for health care providers, but providing assistance outside the realm of doctors’ office walls is exceptional. Three local hospitals are a shining example of this. Doctors Hospital, MCGHealth, Inc. and University Health Care System competed in the 2nd annual “Hospital Competition” hosted by United Way of the CSRA. Shayne George, Larry Read, and Sandra McVicker, respective Presidents of the three local hospitals, graciously supported this initiative and were eager to rally employees once again to raise awareness and funds for the non-profit.
Originally developed in 2008, the competition was broken into three categories:
#1 Overall Winner - Based on highest per capita giving #2 Per Capita Award - Largest increase in per capita giving #3 Leadership Award - Largest increase in leadership giving
United Way of the CSRA was pleased to announce the winners of the hospital competition at their Annual Meeting on February 23, 2010:
#1 Overall Winner: University Health Care System #2 Per Capita Award: University Health Care System #3 Leadership Award: University Health Care System University Health Care System led the charge and not only raised over $92,537 but ended up sweeping all three categories! Led by Pete Brodie and Kathleen Bailie, the organization went above and beyond by educating its employees on the value and impact of United Way’s programs. A campaign steering committee was assembled, a coordinators’ training was held and the hospital hosted a United Way agency fair. The University family had the drive and the passion and truly displayed how to Give, Advocate and Volunteer.
United Way would like to thank all three hospitals for their commitment to create lasting change in the CSRA; a combined total of $205,051 was raised for the 2009 campaign!
