(Augusta, GA) – It’s easier to Google the lyrics of a popular song than it is to find the address of a food pantry in Augusta or Waynesboro. United Way of the CSRA 2-1-1 is working hard to change that. Until now, comprehensive information and referral for social service needs could only be accessed by calling 2-1-1.

Beginning in mid-December, 2-1-1 will offer a database of service information that can be accessed by anyone with an Internet connection. This exciting new option is a free, online directory of health, human services and education agencies and programs-services for children, teens, adults, families and seniors in counties across the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). With detailed information on over 1000 agencies and sites, this searchable database provides instant keyword or agency name access to essential information for local individuals and organizations. 2-1-1 can now reach people wherever computers linked to the Internet are available, wherever people can benefit from its use-in their homes, at work, in community agencies, schools and libraries. Since 2004, United Way of the CSRA 2-1-1 has been assisting citizens throughout the CSRA with finding and giving help in our community. This searchable online database takes this service to the next level in technology and adds more convenience and anonymity to an already amazing local resource.
