400 Volunteers Make A Huge Impact for Local Nonprofits!

Friday, April 17, 2014, marked the date when over 400 volunteers from 24 local organizations  gave of their personal time and talent to perform light maintenance and construction projects for 21 very grateful health and human service agencies.

United Way of the CSRA’s annual day-of-caring, Project Serve, kicked off at 7:00 a.m. with the volunteers gathering at The Salvation Army Kroc Center for a hearty breakfast.

The 400 volunteers were from the following companies:  AmeriCorps*VISTA; Atlanta Gas Light; Augusta Service Company; Austin Industrial;  Club Car; Countersync;  Doctors Hospital; DSM Chemicals NA, Inc.; First Bank of Georgia; Georgia Bank & Trust, Junior Sailors Association; International Paper; John Deere; Kellogg’s; Morgan Stanley; Palmetto GBA; Publix; Savannah River Nuclear Solutions; Savannah River Remediation; Solvay Specialty Polymers, LLC; Southern Nuclear Operating Company; WAGT NBC 26, Walton Foundation; and WJBF News Channel 6.

They spent the day working in 21 nonprofit agencies performing 25 projects ranging from painting and landscaping to building repair and planting gardens.  The agencies receiving the donated labor were Berry Center; Boys & Girls Clubs of the CSRA; Boy Scouts of America, Georgia-Carolina Council, Inc.; Child Enrichment, Inc.; Columbia County Community Connections; Easter Seals of East Georgia; Family Counseling Center; Fireside Ministries; Friendship Community Center; Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia; Golden Harvest Food Bank; Head of the Giant; Heritage Academy; Hope House; The Lydia Project; Ronald McDonald House Charities; SafeHomes, Inc.; The Salvation Army; Shiloh Comprehensive Community Center; and St. Stephen’s Ministry of Augusta.

Without the help of these generous volunteers, most of these agencies could not afford to have this much-needed work done.  Because of the generosity of the volunteers, the local health and human service agencies are able to direct their resources to helping those in need in our community.
