United Way of the CSRA to Open Funding Process to New Partners

New Funding Process Allows Agencies to Better Impact Communities’ Services

For the first time in fifteen years, United Way of the CSRA will invite new agencies and organizations to participate in the community investment process. The newly established funding process for 2011-2013 agency applications will allow unaffiliated organizations the opportunity to become United Way partners. This is part of United Ways’ overall effort to direct community resources to areas of the greatest need while measuring accountability through outcomes.

Project Serve a Great Success!

It was a magnificent year for United Way of the CSRA’s Project Serve Day-of-Caring!  The community’s participation increased significantly from last year with nearly 300 volunteers representing 16 different organizations participating, including over 70 volunteers from Savannah River Site. These volunteers completed projects throughout 15 local nonprofits, both United Way partner and non-partner agencies. Projects included building updates, painting, landscaping, fence installation, and much more.  Volunteer labor saves agencies hundreds of dollars in maintenance and repair fees, and then those savings go toward providing more services for individuals and families in need.  This year’s estimated value of Project Serve volunteer labor was $29,625.   What a wonderful show of support for the community,  and the improvements made to these facilities will ultimately benefit hundreds of individuals within the CSRA!   Read More.

9th Annual United Way Golf Classic Raises Almost $10,000 for 2010 Campaign!

On April 19, United Way of the CSRA hosted the 9th Annual United Way Golf Classic.  Thirty teams from businesses all across the CSRA converged on Jones Creek Golf Club for a beautiful day of golfing, with a silent auction (including a Club Car golf car) and raffle, putting contest, lunch (provided by Chick-fil-A in Evans), an awards dinner (provided by Shane’s Rib Shack), and a lot of nice freebies.  What a great success!  The fun event, presented by WAGT and Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, treated the golfers to cold beverages throughout the day provided by Coca-Cola Bottling Company and A.B. Beverage, and the Augusta Marriott hosted a fun Tiki Hut on Hole #2 with an assortment of frosty libations and snacks.  Chadwick Painting brought home bragging rights along with their ‘Windsor Cup’ donated by Windsor Jewelers.  The fun event netted nearly $10,000, which will be ‘first dollars in’ for the 2010 United Way campaign.  These proceeds will be used to fund over 40 vital health and human service programs that make a difference in the lives of local citizens every day.
