The CSRA Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals held their National Philanthropy Day luncheon and awards ceremony Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Augusta Country Club. It was a day to celebrate those who’ve gone the extra mile in their charitable works and donations across our communities.
“Philanthropy is the love of humankind.”

While it is hard to truly give the recognition that is deserved by so many, local area individuals, groups, and companies were highlighted for their efforts in making our community a better place.
On the list of award announcements, our very own Rina S. Powell, Senior Director of Resource Development, was recognized as 2018's Outstanding Fundraiser Professional. Mrs. Powell (at right) has worked at our United Way for 22 years building relationships and confidence in our mission to help those in need.
Rural Sourcing Inc. (RSI) was named Outstanding Local Partner for its help in providing technical support services to an organizational database of ours called the Christmas Clearinghouse. This web-based system is utilized by more than 60 non-profit organizations in the area to coordinate assistance not only at Christmas but throughout the year. Last year more than 8,000 children from 2,000 families received help through United Way of the CSRA's Christmas Clearinghouse. Dr. Anthony Robinson, Director of Center Development (pictured above to the right) accepts the award on behalf of RSI with our President and CEO Brittany Burnett.
As the luncheon came to a close, La Verne Gold, who recently retired as President and CEO of our United Way of the CSRA, received the Brian J. Mulherin Outstanding Community Service Award. Mrs. Gold spent 40 years with United Way and most recently 10 years as our executive leader. Her legacy lives on in our many efforts throughout our community from establishing strong business partnerships to ensuring residents have the resources they need to get back on their feet through 2-1-1 referrals and assistance.
